We just returned from a campervan trip to the San Juan Islands (in Washington state), and I cannot stop thinking about it.
This place has been on my travel wish list for years, and I was a little worried that it wouldn’t live up to my expectations.
But it actually blew them out of the water.
🐋 We saw orcas. OMG!
🦪 We ate amazing seafood.
🐎 Camped on a horse farm.
🛶 Paddle boarded on a small magical bay.
♨️ Soaked in a private hot tub with an ocean view.
🥐 Ate yummy pastries.
🫶🏼 Explored cute towns.
🎶 Listened to a local open mic night at sunset.
💦 Hiked to waterfalls in the forest with nobody around.
👩🏻🌾 Bought produce from roadside farm stands.
💫 Spent the evenings stargazing.
Can you see why I’m already dreaming of a return trip?!
Suffice to say, I think everyone should put this spot on their list! And yes, I will be making a free guide soon 😉
✈️ Thrifty Traveler Flight Deals: 30% OFF this week
We've mentioned Thrifty Traveler a lot over the years, and there's a reason for that. We've been subscribers for over 8 years now, and it's definitely changed how we book flights. We haven't paid for a full-price plane ticket in 3 years.
Here's an example of a couple of flight deals that came in my inbox last week:
Less than $600 round trip to Europe is a steal right now! And 13,000 SkyMiles to get to Iceland is a crazy good deal.
Here's our advice: don't wait for a specific destination to pop into your head. Sign up, set your home airport, and let the deals come to you.
This week, Thrifty Traveler is running their National Cheap Flight Day Promotion. They're offering 30% off the first year of the Premium plan (the same one we have) or Premium+ plan (this plan sends you hotel point deals in addition to flights).
Premium: $90.99 (normally $129.99)
Premium+: $132.99 (normally $189.99)
This 30% off deal starts today and only lasts until Thursday, August 20th.
Tip: It also makes a great gift for that spontaneous traveler in your life.
Things are feeling a little crazy for us at the moment. We just returned from a 10-day campervan trip, and we’re leaving again at the beginning of September, this time on a 3-week international trip.
We’ll be going to 2 different countries:
👉🏼 One will be our very first time visiting (it is a place I’ve been itching to go to!)
👉🏼 The other country is one I’ve been to 4 times, but we’re going to a totally new (to us) region and we’ll be working with the tourism board on creating some fun content about our time there!
